On July 1, 2026, eLABa repository version 1.40 was installed, implemented new functionalities, and other system changes and bug fixes were made.

Changes implemented in the eLABa repository:

• Import of patents from the Espacenet database

The ability to import patent metadata from the Espacenet database using the Open Patent Services (OPS) online service has been implemented. The description import window has been supplemented with a new data source - Espacenet.

• Removal of unapproved document descriptions

A function has been implemented that automatically completely removes unnecessary (removed and incomplete) document records after a specified period has passed since the record was last modified.

• Merging user profiles

The ability to merge two profiles of the same person has been implemented, when the same person has more than one profile with different personal codes in the eLABa repository. This is relevant when different data for the same user are received from different external systems (or manually entered).

• DOI number field extension

The length of the DOI number field has been increased to 65 characters.
 

Other changes and bug fixes:

• Previous issue: Some links with the institutional domain name do not work

To resolve this issue, from now on, the institution code is written to the subfield 9 of the MARC 710 field exported by the eLABa repository. Also, the institution code in all MARC 1XX and 7XX fields exported by the eLABa Repository has been moved from subfield 5 to subfield 9.
